Curcumin and Cancer


Curcumin is one of the most investigated natural supplements of our time, with over 2000 studies confirming its powerful anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and anti-oxidant properties.

How curcumin exerts its powerful anticancer activities has been thoroughly investigated, and several mechanisms of action have been discovered ... curcumin exerts its biological activities through epigenetic modulation.' In other words, curcumin can change the regulation of DNA to help kill cancer cells.

There are over 400 publications that site tumeric and its active component curcumin for its anti-cancer effects. Many diseases, such as colon cancer and other types of cancer, are being traced to inflammation.

Curcumin is Also a Powerful Weapon against Diabetes

Curcumin researchers Dr Sukamar and colleague Dr Maitra of John Hopkins University says that curcumin is a strong weapon against diabetes and inflammation. She also states that "It has very strong anti-inflammatory activity, but Is that the only activity that's really causing it to be this effective? We don't think so. We think it has effects on multiple other pathways that are just beginning to be understood."

Sukumar talks about a recent study where mice with obesity-induced diabetes were given curcumin and their glucose levels returned to almost normal levels within 20 days, thanks to an increased production of "good fat" hormones.

When a human follow-up clinical trial was performed in a double-blind study with pre-diabetic patients, Sukumar cited that none of the 119 subjects who were given curcumin developed the disease. However, 19 out 116 pre-diabetic patients in that same trial who were given a placebo did develop the disease.

It is sad that this research is not getting coverage in pharmaceutically controlled main stream media. The research into the benefits of Curcumin is now beyond question.
